Aim

The aim of this system is to allow skydivers to qualify and pack main parachutes, the course is slightly different depending on which association you want to be qualified under, we run packing courses that qualify you as either a BPA, USPA or FEADA approved packer.

Duration

The course is a one day training course with further supervision and training as required, followed by an examination and subsequent qualification for each system that a test has been taken on.

Course Instructors

BPA Instructors, USPA Instructors or Parachute Riggers

Qualifications to attend the Approved Packer course

Must be a full Member of the relevant association

Course Syllabus

• Assembly of component parts
• Clear system of lines twists and tangles
• Line sequence checks
• Packing Demo and Practice
• Inspection Techniques
• Association Manual requirements
• Replace closure loops & elastic bands
• Equipment (container/canopy) compatibility

Test

When the candidate is confident in his/her packing ability he/she may ask for a packing test
Upon completion of the test, successful candidates will be awarded with an Approved Packing Certificate for the equipment they have been tested on.

Limitations of work

Approved Packers are cleared for all assembly, inspection and packing as noted on their Approved Packing Certificate.

Packing courses are run usually mid week but can be run during a weekend on a bad weather day, contact Sky Science to register your interest in a course and we will book you on the next available course
